This is significant for the singer because it is the highest-charting solo song by an African female artist in 56 years.
Hugh Masekela of South Africa did it in 1968 with the song Grazing in the Grass, and Tyla shattered the record in 2023.
African Facts revealed the release date for the hit song: Tyla has 29 million monthly Spotify listeners, the most ever for an African female artist. Water has sold 200,000 units in the United Kingdom, 35,000 units in Australia, and 15,000 units in New Zealand.
