JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Floyd Brink’s appointment as Johannesburg City manager has been declared unlawful and invalid.
Acting Judge Steven Budlender ordered the City of Johannesburg to rescind Brink’s appointment in a verdict handed out on Tuesday morning at the Gauteng High Court.
Despite failing to pass the vetting standards, Brink was chosen by the council in February.
Furthermore, Brink was named in a forensic study commissioned by the city that showed he committed multiple acts of malfeasance while serving as interim city manager.
The Democratic Alliance filed the court application to contest his appointment.
