DJ Maphorisa responds to Samthing Soweto’s statement about who owns the rights to his music.

Early on Tuesday, Samthing wrote a number of tweets about how Phori took advantage of him, particularly with the song Isphithiphithi, because he didn’t receive the rights to the song.

“@DjMaphorisa shouldn’t tell lies like he does; it might get him into trouble someday. ” I paid Phori for my Master’s degree. I paid him the amount he requested back then. Also, I lied about what Phor contributed to my project. He didn’t make anything.

“They use my work without asking, without agreements, and without my permission. ” “They publish my work without telling me when it will be released. When I ask what’s going on, they go to social media to make me look bad before I can explain my side. ”

DJ Maphorisa released a video answering everything said about him on Twitter from Soweto.

Phori said that Samthing can’t own all the music rights. He also said that they asked for the singer’s bill years ago so they could pay him.

The DJ said that the singer can get their money back too.

“We want to buy the song ‘Amantombazane. ‘ Please send us the bill so we can pay you. Simple @samthingsoweto,” he wrote in the post.

Maphorisa said he is tired of arguing about the same thing.
