A rapper, composer, sound engineer, and businessman from South Africa is known as Cassper Nyovest. He is one of the most well-known individuals in the South African music scene. He is well known for having a distinctive hairdo that features long braids at the back of his head.

In addition, Cassper is one of the most well-known hip-hop performers in his nation and is well-known for his top singles, “Doc Shebelze” and “Gusheshe.” He established “Family Tree Records,” a record company that supports creative people in South Africa. One of the biggest stars in South Africa, Cassper has dominated the local hip-hop scene with his songs and several accolades.

Career

Cassper started his musical career in 2004 when he founded a hip-hop group ‘Childhood Gangsta’ with his mates when he was 13. Later, he quit the group and became a part of “Slow Motion,” an eight-member group that also features renowned music producer Aashish Gangaram of Ganja Beatz.

Following his school abandonment, Cassper signed with the motwako record label Impact Sounds, which in 2006 also signed performers like Tuks Senganga and Morafe. However, due to disagreements on artistic matters, the partnership between Cassper and Impact Sounds soured. Following their divorce in 2008, Cassper at the time was a solo rap artist.

Cassper returned home and established his record company. Cassper was discovered by the late artist Hip Hop Pantsula, who used Cassper on his song “Wamo Tseba Mtho” before starting his record company.

He released “Gusheshe,” a song that features Okmalumkoolkat, as his debut single in 2013. Cassper launched his musical label, Family Tree Records, in 2014. released his second single, “Doc Shebeleza,” the same year. The song was titled after the kwaito musician Doc Shebeleza. The song became popular after receiving favorable reviews from the general public and accolades from renowned personalities, such as vocalist Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

Awards and Nominations

Cassper Nyovest has received various honors and prizes both nationally and internationally. He received four wins at the South African Hip-hop wins in 2013, giving him his first trophy.

He was nominated for the Nigerian Headies awards as well. Additionally, he received various endorsements from businesses such as Castle Lite, Ciroc, MTN, and AG mobile and was named the best MC at the MTV base program. Other businesses that supported him were Shoprite, Samsung South Africa, Coca-Cola, and KFC South Africa.
